Browser compatibility verification

Is my browser 128-bits SSL compliant?

Your connection with eSGBL is subject to a high level of coding that preserves the confidentiality and integrity of your exchanges so that no dishonest third party can know your access ID, your password, or your personal banking data.
To ensure full confidentiality and security of your internet transactions, eSGBL uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) with 128-bits encryption (such technology provides the best protection level available on the internet currently).

For this reason, you should use a recent browser version that supports 128-bit SSL encryption to access eSGBL:
For Windows users: Internet Explorer should be higher than 5.50 or Netscape higher than 4.75
For Macintosh users: Internet Explorer should be higher than 5.50 or Netscape higher than 4.77 and English version

To determine if your browser supports 128-bit encryption:

For Internet Explorer users:

  • click on "Help" in the toolbar of your Internet Explorer

  • and click on "About Internet Explorer",

  • A pop-up box or window will be displayed. For Internet Explorer - Next to "Cipher Strength" you should see "128-bit".

For Netscape users:

  • click on "Help" in the toolbar of your Netscape

  • and click on "About Netscape",

  • the following text should appear: “This version supports high-grade (128-bit) security with RSA Public Key Cryptography”.

If your browser does not support 128-bit encryption, you will need to upgrade to a browser that does in order to continue to access secure pages of the website. Recommended browsers include: Netscape Navigator 4.77, Internet Explorer 5.5, but other browsers that support 128-bit encryption may also work.

How can I upgrade the encryption level of my browser without updating the browser version?
Two solutions are available :
1)
We invite you to visit Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com) or Netscape website (www.netscape.com) on which you can upgrade your browser for free or download a 128-bit patch.
PS: It may take time to download depending on your connection speed

2)
You can also get a CD ROM including the recent browsers from your Internet Service Provider or your usual retailer for example.
Can I upgrade the encryption level of my browser without updating the browser version?
It depends on the browser you are using:
If you are using Internet Explorer 3 or earlier, you must perform a full upgrade to Internet Explorer Version 5 with 128-bit encryption (version of the browser is displayed by clicking on "Help" in the toolbar of your Internet browser and clicking on "About [browser name]").
If you are using Internet Explorer 4 or later, you may perform a partial 128-bit encryption only upgrade by following the instructions to upgrade below.
AOL uses the Internet Explorer browser and is subject to the same conditions as Internet Explorer.

If you are using Netscape browser versions earlier than 6 do not have a 128-bit encryption, the only option is to upgrade. You must perform a full upgrade to a version of Netscape that supports 128-bit encryption and then specifically request the higher level of encryption.

Where can I find the requested updates?

In Internet Explorer, click on Help and select About Internet Explorer. The window that pops up should say "Cipher strength: 128-bit". If it does not, clicking on "Update Information" will take you to the link below, which contains instructions for upgrading Internet Explorer:

Netscape (version 4.78 and below)

Verify your cipher strength, as some versions of 4.7 do not support 128-bit encryption. If the version you are using does not support it, download an updated version by clicking on the following link and following the instructions:
